Artists Michelle Thrush

Michelle Thrush has been working professionally in film, television and theatre for over twenty years. She has written, acted, directed, and produced theatre, and has received many awards and special recognitions. She received the 2011 Gemini for Best Performance by an Actress in a Continuing Leading Dramatic Role, Best Supporting Actress in 2009 at the American Indian Festival in San Francisco and Best Supporting Actress at the First Americans in the Arts Awards in Los Angeles in 1999. She was nominated for Best Alberta Actress at the 2010 Alberta Motion Picture Awards and Best Lead Actress in Vancouver at the Leo Awards. Michelle has appeared in numerous films including Unnatural and Accidental, Pathfinder, Don’t Call Me Tonto, Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee, Dreamkeeper and Dead Man, the cult classic in which she played opposite Johnny Depp and Gary Farmer. Michelle was an alumni member and Artistic Director of Crazy Horse Aboriginal Theatre Company. Known for her grass roots work in community Michelle has toured extensively through both Canada and the States. Her work with youth and children has been a very important aspect of her career. Michelle is a mother to two daughters and currently resides in Calgary, Alberta.
