Assemblage
David Asmodeus
No description available
In recent years my experience in scenic design and the creation of illusion in artificial environments has been manifested in my works. More than this I find many of my previous skills being utilized: woodworking, painting, drawing, collage, taxidermy, photography. Boxes containing precious/sacred objets. Museums and their pathological respect for order. The proscenium within which cultural performances are held. All these provide, for me, a fusion of images in a meaningful aesthetic. The appropriation of a dead animal or its parts and presenting it as an object simply composed of shape, form and texture not only evokes the potential for such transmogrification but immortalizes it as well. Hopefully the symbolic properties are retained.
