Personal Fables

As I work, I am finding my own "bestiary". Certain animals mean certain thins and the arrangement of these within my images seems to create a "personal fable". These are not altogether unlike the fables we all know, where an animal is used to illustrate an abstract quality or human failing, since my animials are a visible extension of something nebulous within myself. However, I do not set out to moralise or chose a "type" of animal to illustrate a "type" of human. I enjoy being "within" the body of an animal. I am depicting, and sometimes I am surprised to see the "beasts" that inhabit me. Thus, the "fable" is created when the image is created, and not before.
