David Yonge
Physical objects cannot occupy the same space at the same time. David's body occupies the same amount of space as 62 liters of water. This 12-hour performance will have the body contained in a bathtub consuming the entire duplication of itself.
The subject of this performance/installation is two physical objects occupying the same space at the same time. I will use my body as a physical medium and another representation of my body will be the other object. My body occupies the same amount of space as 62 litres of water. My goal is to be placed in a bathtub with 62 litres of water, which is a duplication of myself in liquid form. This performance will have me drinking and absorbing the entire amount without it leaving my body. This is impossible. The body cannot contain a duplication of itself. As urine and perspiration leave my body they will still be held in the bathtub with me and become part of the cycle of placing liquid back into my body.
