"My fervent desire with this exhibit Bad Boys: Portraits of Mediated Performance is to call up the imaginary, the symbolic, the structure and the soul that is the monolithic experience of masculinity." "I have attempted to lay out this experience in three aesthetic approaches - the salon, a collaged wall of chaos, an intermingling map of sorts of images, text and costumes. The second is the personal: inviting friends to reflect on their relationships with fathers, brothers, grandfathers, uncles, sons and husbands. The final addresses the way in which singular famous individuals are canonized from an explosion of tabloid material to the contextual cage that we participate in building for them."

"..The project's creation phase involves an ongoing three week performance activity of the artist negotiating her way singing through lower mainland neighbourhoods. The result of these encounters (through documentation will be then further developed into a fully interactive new media work (website) and DVD that allows the viewer to follow her sojourns on the landscape and experience her mappings from their own computer."

Marlene Madison's new works Audition Tapes and Open Call explore notions of "Celebrity". Audition Tapes, a single screen video installation, consists of three "cold" readings of a prepared text in a format that closely resembles a screen test. Open Call is the reading by 15 actors and non-actors of texts they receive when they arrive at the event.
