The concept of assemblage and constructive art allows a partnership between the artist and a never-ending abundance of raw materials for which an urban society has no use following their initial function. This concept has proven to be a 'door' for Symonds through which to further explore his ideas.

Queen Street in Toronoto has quickly become an important district for visual art in that city. Many of the artist run centres are on Queen or just off it and important, younger commercial galleries are springing up and taking chances on younger artistis and tougher work. It is important for Vancouver artists and audience to see this work. The exhibition consists of seven Toronto painters and shows a range of work being produced.
